ABOUT US
Founded in 1970, Torskeklubben of Edmonton is a an inclusive community interested in promoting Scandinavian cultural heritage; members are offered an opportunity to socialize on a monthly basis and enjoy traditional Norwegian fare such as torsk (cod fish) and Linie aquavit.
OUR MISSION
To provide and promote friendly social activities for members. To support, assist and promote education in Scandinavian languages and culture, and awareness of the heritage contribution of Scandinavian immigrants to Canada and North America.
WHAT WE DO
The club meets on the first Tuesday of every month (except July and August) to socialize, enjoy a traditional Norwegian meal of torsk (codfish) and Linie aquavit, and listen to an interesting guest speaker.
Torskeklubben members and their friends volunteer to manage biennial casino events. The charitable gaming proceeds allows the club to promote awareness of Scandianvian herritage, support education in Scandinavian languages and culture, and to help local charitable organizations in the Edmonton community.
