Come enjoy a traditional meal of torsk (codfish) and a few glasses of aquavit.
Ingrid Urberg, Professor of Scandinavian Studies at U of A Augustana Campus, will provide an overview of Einar Odd Mortensen’s The Fur Trader: From Oslo to Oxford House (U of A Press, 2022). Originally published in Norway in 2007, this text describes Mortensen’s adventures as a fur trader in Manitoba in the late 1920s. Ingrid will discuss the benefits and challenges of collaboration in storytelling by focusing on her work with historian Daniel Sims, and Gerd Kjustad Mortensen to produce this English language critical edition.
